Get Started Grant

Please complete the attached application for the Dallas Women Lawyers Association Foundation’s “Get Started Grant”. This grant will help kick-start the legal careers of graduating law students as they enter the legal profession.

Scholarships in the amount of $2,500.00 will be awarded to cover bar preparation fees, living costs and exam fees for a law student graduating in May 2024 who meets the following requirements:

  1. Will be studying to take the Texas bar exam or the UBE exam in the summer of 2024;
  2. Will be practicing law in the Dallas metropolitan area following graduation;
  3. Has demonstrated leadership, academic excellence and service to the community; and
  4. Has demonstrated efforts to positively impact women and children.

Those submitting applications are required to submit this application which includes a one-page résumé, current transcript, and two (2) reference letters.

Please note the application must be signed by the applicant personally. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Applications must be received by March 29, 2024 Friday, April 12th.  The Foundation may interview candidates.

The recipient of the DWLA Foundation “Get Started Grant” will be announced in May of 2024 and honored at the DWLA Annual Awards Reception in the fall of 2024. The scholarship recipient should plan on attending the event if possible. The scholarship will be funded no later than June 1, 2024.

      Your support will help the DWLA Foundation grow so we may support various charitable and educational activities assisting women and children in the Dallas metropolitan area and surrounding suburbs. Your donation will allow us to provide a variety of scholarships for women in the legal community as well as provide charitable legal aid for the public, assist in improving the delivery of legal services to the indigent, and provide services to the community that further the interests of women and children throughout the DFW Metroplex.

      This grant empowered and encouraged me to invest in myself and my office…My most pressing goals have been to automate my new client process and to develop and prepare systems in anticipation of a flood of new clients. I’ve adopted the mantra to “work smarter, not harder”.
